Trina was studying for her real estate license in 1998 when she was approached by Miami rapper Trick Daddy, who invited her to appear on his song “Nann Nigga.” The song debuted at No. 62 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on the Rap Songs chart as the lead single off Trick’s second studio album, www.thug.com, on July 14, 1998. Trina had left Atlantic Records and signed to EMI in partnership with her original company, Slip-n-Slide Records, on May 18, 2007. Trina’s fourth studio album, Still da Baddest, was released on April 1, 2008. It debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and No. 1 on the Top Rap Albums chart, making it her first album to top the charts. It sold 47,000 copies in its first week. The singles “Single Again,” which peaked at No. 25 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100, No. 59 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and No. 19 on the Rap Songs chart, and “I Got a Thang for You,” which featured Keyshia Cole, peaked at No. 21 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 and No. 59 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, preceded the album.
